Dr. Kizza Besigye has repeatedly and consistently criticized a segment of Uganda's elite class, most notably in a widely circulated 2020 statement where he called them the "most useless people" in Uganda. His criticism is generally directed at the educated and influential Ugandans who remain silent or passive in the face of poor governance, corruption, and human rights abuses, rather than using their positions to advocate for change.
