President Museveni expressed disagreement with the Supreme Court's ruling that bars the trial of civilians in military courts but has affirmed his respect for the decision.

The ruling, delivered by Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo, declared that trying civilians in the General Court Martial is unconstitutional.

The court emphasised that military tribunals should only handle cases involving members of the armed forces, upholding civilian rights under Uganda's legal framework.

Daudi Kabanda, a Member of Parliament, revealed that while the president does not support the verdict, he remains committed to respecting the judiciary's authority.
