• The idea that events are predetermined and unavoidable. Synonyms of fate include fortune, destiny, luck, and circumstances.
• Faith
• A belief in something, often without proof. Synonyms of faith include trust, conviction, belief, acceptance, assurance, and truth. 

Some people believe that God is in control of fate, and that everything happens for a purpose. Others believe that faith is a gift from God that can change the course of a person's life. 

In the Bible, Hebrews 11:1 says, "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen".
